Week 34
August 30, 2016
Day 225
Exercise: Swim
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Distance: 2.4 miles
I pushed it pretty hard today and was hoping to finish this swim five minutes faster, but I feel good with that time. If I hadn't been forced out of my lane to make room for the W.A.V.E class (Water Aerobics for the Very Elderly), I might have finished a little faster, but probably not.
In other news, those old ladies hate me. Part of me thinks it's because I'm young, and the other part of me thinks it's because they can't use the whole pool if there are people swimming laps. Why they think they need the whole pool is beyond me, but I caught my fair share of glares this morning (lol rhymes). I guess if I had to choose my enemies, a class of a dozen or so elderly women barely capable of staying above water isn't a terrible option.
Day 226
Strength Day
I could only do two pull-up today, which means I'm getting weaker. Nooooo...
Or it could have been because my shoulders were tired from the swim yesterday. Either way, it feels weird that my upper body is more sore than my legs. I also can't remember the last time at least one part of my body wasn't sore, so that's nice.
Day 227
Exercise: Swim
Time: 1 hour
Distance: 1.8 miles
This will be the last time I swim twice in one week. Partly because of the building animosity between me and the W.A.V.E class (one of them actually kicked me under the water today) and partly because I feel ready for the swim. I'm fully comfortable in the water, so it's time to focus on the bike and run.
I don't care what you say. The W.A.V.E women have not scared me away from the pool. Did I underestimate their aggressiveness? Maybe. Am I scared of them? No, definitely not. Why would you even ask that?
Day 228
Exercise: Bike/Run
Time: 1 hour 30 minutes/1 hour
Distance: 24 miles/5 miles
So I didn't eat breakfast or stretch before my workout this morning, which resulted in the cramp to end all cramps and throwing up around mile three of my run *upside down smiley face* What's really confusing to me is that I had nothing to throw up, so I don't even know how that happens. Moral of the story is that I'm still not taking nutrition seriously enough, and this burning sensation in the back of my throat is all the reminder I needed...See y'all tomorrow. I'll be stretching and eating bananas for the rest of the day.
Day 229
Exercise: Run
Time: 2 hours 20 minutes
Distance: 12 miles
I went slower than I wanted to, but considering the hills (915ft elevation change) and the heat (97 degrees Fahrenheit + humidity), I feel decent about today. I think the run may be the part of the race that I most underestimate. It's where I died during the half-Ironman, so I'm going to take the time over the next few weeks to try to make long distance running as easy as long distance swimming. TBD on how that turns out...
Good news about today is I stretched and ate beforehand, so I did not cramp or throw up *praise hands emoji*
Day 230-231
OFF
Extra day off because my body hurts, and I needed it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
