Week 22
June 9, 2016
Day 141
Exercise: Swim
Time: 40 minutes
Distance: ?
I really hope my goggles don't fog up during the race.
Day 142
Exercise: Bike
Time: 1 hour
Distance: 15 miles
Usually, I work out in the afternoon/evening, but today I was up before the sun and in the gym early. I have to say I like working out in the morning. Even though I'm a terrible person to be around before I've had coffee, there is something about exercising as the first thing you do that starts the day off on the right foot.
I'm still going to sleep in tomorrow, but it's a nice idea.
Day 143
Exercise: Run
Time: 1 hour
Distance: 6 miles
I usually hate running with other people, but today I ran with a friend and enjoyed it. Plus, we finished six miles in around 53 minutes, which is faster than I normally run. I don't know if having another person there had anything to do with my speed, but it certainly might have. I will say that it can be monotonous when I'm out running by myself. When I am the only one responsible for pushing myself it can be easy to slow down and coast through a workout.
It was helpful today to have someone next to me keeping me accountable to the pace we set from the beginning. Then again, this blog has helped keep me accountable to staying disciplined in order to reach the goal I've set. So if you're reading this, thanks. You're part of the reason I haven't given up.

Day 145
OFF
Day 146
Exercise: Swim
Time: 30 minutes
Distance: ?
I was able to do my second open water swim in a lake today, and I'm incredibly grateful I did. The lake was muddy this time, which is closer to the conditions I will be racing in. I couldn't see my hands out in front of me while I was swimming, and although it was a bit unnerving at first, I got used to it. I'm still nervous about the race day swim, but I feel much more prepared after today.
Repetition quells anxiety.
Day 147
OFF
One week from today and I will be racing. Turn up.
