Owning hour one

If I don't own the first hour of the day, then the rest of the day owns me.

Pressing snooze seems harmless until I realize my first waking action was one of responsibility avoidance.
Skipping breakfast seems like a timesaver until I'm braindead by 10 and eating lunch at 11.

The first hour is the best time to think, read, write, stretch, run, rest because it's the only time when what's on the docket for the day doesn't have to happen yet.

That stuff can happen in the second hour.

But the first sets the stage for how I'll handle the next 23.
